!HAZARD!

Posted in: Uncategorized

Hello Friends!

Greenville Humane Society stopped by with another cuddly critter! Hazard! He and his sibling need a good home. Hazard and sibling are Terrier/Chihuahua mix, I believe. Definitely Chihuahua, not sure about the Terrier part. Too cute. Please visit the Greenville Hume Society’s website, or call 242-3626 for more information about Hazard and sibling and others that need adoption.

Hello All!

Coming up in October, Magic 98.9 will be partnering with the Greenville Hospital System’s Chidlren’s Miracle Network to benefit the Children’s Hospital on the GHS campus.  Everyone here at Magic is getting ready for this!

In order to get a complete understanding of the Children’s Hopital, I took a tour today of the 5th and 6th floors.  Many of you, God bless, have not had to use the state of the art technology in those wings of the hospital.  Many of you have been blessed to not even enter those wings to visit little ones going through critical, life threatening health issues.  I was in awe of the technology that we have right here in the Upstate to take care of these children.  Just babies.  Babies that are born premature, born with cancer, born severely underdeveloped, 6 and 7 year olds with type II diabetes, lukemia… it’s heart breaking.  That these little people have to go through these battles at such a young age.   But what I saw today gave me confidence that these children are going to make it through!  Our doctors and nurses at GHS are incredible.  They will, and are, taking care of these precious little ones.

Thank you to McDonalds’ Ronald McDonald House and Bi-Lo Grocery for their grand donations.  Ronald McDonald House providing the family rooms through the Children’s wings, when parents and siblings just need a moment to step away from the hopital room.  Bi-Lo Chrities providing the funds for the Children’s Cancer Center.  Children from area schools donating art work to hang on the walls through the Children’s Hopsital.  Doug from Clemson who takes care of the beautiful fish tanks all throughout the hospital.  (When I first walked into the hopital today, I did in fact see all those smudges across the glass of the fish tank that everyone told me about.  Those smudges and prints are from the kids.  Even they get tired of being in their room all day, so they venture down the hall to visit the fish!)

I will share more with you come October, but please consider this now, support the ONLY PEDIATRIC ICU IN THE UPSTATE.  Greenville Hospital System’s, Children’s Hospital.

Oh, and Neil the Chaplain… captivating!

Thank you for reading this and letting me share.

With so much in the news about identity theft….here are some things you need to know….I’ll just hit the highlights but you’ll see how important it is to carry as little information as possible….keep a list of account numbers and contact information in a safe place…secure your computer with virus and spyware protection….shred everything you throw away and be sure to place a fraud alert on your account..but remember that your account will be monitored for only 90 days unless you re-activate the fraud alert…..hope this helps and stay safe……Lee

Just amazing!  You have got to take the time to watch this video.  It’s only 5 to 10 minutes long.  Jack Pyles, you hear him on the weekends on Magic, sent it to me.  Talk about jaw dropping!  No other planet in our solar system is like this.  I just cannot fathom that after watching this video, still, there are people that do not believe in God.

Click the link here to see the video.  AWESOME!!!

Hot Dog!

Posted in: Uncategorized

Hi Friends!

Now, I’m not gonna start singing Sarah McLachlan “Angel” here, but I do want to remind you that we have quite a few four-legged friends looking for new homes! Dogs, puppies, cats and kitties, they need your TLC. Let me tell you, my husband and I adopted one of our dogs, Tink, from the Greenville Humane Society, and dog-on-it, if she isn’t the greatest addition to our life! (Don’t tell Daisy, our other little one, she might get jealous :) We adopted her from a family friend who was moving.)

You want to go home to smiles and licks and sheer joy to see you every night? Get a dog! You want to go home to rubs, purrs and contentment every night? Get a cat! How can you resist?!?!

Gloria (L) is a Retriever/Lab mix 8 weeks old, Tracy (R) is a Dachshund 8 months old.  (She was named after our webmistress Tracy:)  And both these babies need a home!

Hello everyone….thought you would like this that I received from a friend…….PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr.’s Office, the check out girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys  beside your bed at night.
If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator.
Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:
It’s a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.

It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won’t stick around… after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won’t want that! And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there.
This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or prevent a sexual assault. My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn’t hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she’ll know there’s a problem.
P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. It would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can’t reach a phone.

What a GREAT idea!

I have no idea how I found this video on youtube, but it is quite interesting.  Our facial expressions.  What is the purpose of the facial expression change from seeing a little bunny bouncing across the lawn to a big ‘ole bumble bee flying right at us?  Our different facial expressions do have meanings, aside from the obvious, fear, love, contentment, etc.

Please watch the video below to learn about facial expressions.  It’s only a minute or so long and it will strike up interesting conversation!  (Plus the voice guy on the video is an Aussie.  Ahh, I love the accent!)

I really enjoy visiting downtown Greenville and from where I live its just a short drive….This past weekend I took a stroll over the Liberty Bridge at Falls Park  which is such a wonderful asset to the city’s downtown….here are a few interesting facts about the bridge…..it has a span of 380 feet giving everyone a great view of the falls…the bridge is 11 feet wide, rises 55 feet above the water and can accomodate up to 12oo people….Falls Park is so unique because there is nothing like it anywhere.  Yes…we are blessed to be living in a beautiful part of the country and downtown only adds to the enjoyment….Lee
