Duke Energy was right about one thing and that is that there is no good time for a rate increase but come on…this company wants to raise residential rates by almost 10 percent when the country is in the middle of a serious ressession and people are losing their jobs in unprecedented numbers.  No matter what reasons they are trying to sell us on to raise rates they are not enough to be approved a rate increase…and what about the many who live on a fixed income..Duke Energy is very insensitive to the well being of their clients be private residents or businesses…you should write to Duke Energy and express the same sentiments….Lee

If you were one of the many who came out to Fluor Field on Sunday to honor Greenville native Lucas Glover on winning the U.S. Open Golf Championship, I’m sure you got the same feeling that I had…what a great way to show our appreciation to such a talented and gracious person.  I know he has a hectic tour schedule but it was really nice for him to be able to be here for what was a special day of accolades and reunions…well done..Lucas, we’re all so proud of you…..Lee

I knew it would not take long after the death of Michael Jackson for the moguls to roll out a movie and that’s just what Sony Corp. has done.  The movie studio has bid 50 million dollars to have the worldwide distribution rights to a movie based on rehearsal footage for Michael’s “This is It” comeback concert series.  It would also go a long way to help promoter AEG recoup some of the 30-million it spent producing the concert in Great Britain before Michael died on June 25th.  Also look for a tv special coming out soon  featuring a stage show of Michael Jackson.  Just know that the hype will be longed lived.

Hi…hope you had a really nice weekend…I want to take a moment to welcome Monnie Whitson back…she has been away for several weeks..her dad passed away and we will all miss Tony…he was just a wonderful person to everyone who knew him.  Since I’m a fan of American Idol…I’m eager to find out if Paula Abdul will return as a judge for the upcoming season and there is word out today that her manager is hinting that she will not likely be back for season number nine…I still think that she will work out her disagreements with the show and will be back…in the meantime Simon, Randy and Kara have inked a new deal…so we’ll be kept waiting for awhile…..Lee

After I read an article in the newspaper today, I just had to respond and urge you to take precautions against Lyme disease which is transmitted by ticks.  You see,  my best friend in my 30’s  died from complications from this disease.  Dick loved the outdoors and had several dogs.  He was misdiagnosed and did not receive the proper treatment.  The article that I was referring to is about  Perry Fields, a former Clemson athlete who is fighting this disease.  She is doing much better now that doctors know what the problem is and she wants everyone to be careful and know what to look for and what the symptoms are.  There is a support group for Greenville and Spartanburg residents who would like to get more information…log onto greenvillelyme@bellsouth.net .   Stay safe and enjoy this great summer weather…….Lee

Monnie Whitson lost her wonderful daddy recently and I just wanted to send her my sympathy and to say I’ll always cherish the memories that we all had of Tony.  He was the kind of parent that all children dream of having.  He was witty, fun to be around, helpful to anyone who needed a boost and a loving father to his family.  A call from you to Monnie would mean so very much to her and I for one am glad to work with such a caring and loving friend.   Lee
