Paws for a Cause Dog Walk to benefit the American Cancer Society was Saturday 9/26/09.  Despite the yucky weather, we had a fabulous turn-out!  Alex Hyman from Phil Hyman Photography got some great shots and put together a montage for us!  He’s so awesome.  Please click the lick below to watch.  As always, fabulous job Alex!  Thank you.

Check out this guy.  Phew!  He’s a handful!  Still a puppy, 1 1/2 years old.  He needs some training, but he’s a good boy.  He was here at the station for about 25 minutes and we were able to teach him to sit!  So I”m thinking he’s a quick learner!

Kobe is a Terrior/Australian Shephard mix.  Already neutered and ready to go home for $79.50.  He does play a little rough, so probably not the best dog to be around small children.

He has fabulous color in his coat doesn’t he!?  He’s a smart cookie so it won’t take too long to train him.  Full of energy, so if you like to hike, bike ride, jog… Kobe will keep in step!

(He reminds me of Benji.  Remember that show?)

Something special going on for the next couple days… it’s RIVERSIDE HIGH SCHOOL’S SPIRIT WEEK and all the money they raise goes to the Greenville Humane Society!  You too can participate, even if you’re not in HS, or have kids in HS.  Have dinner at Happy Pie Thursday night between 5p-7p and Friday join our sister station, B93.7 for the Tailgating Block party at Riverside.  Remember, ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE GREENVILLE HUMANE SOCIETY!!!

To adopt Kobe, because he truly would love to call a place home, you can call the Greenville Humane Society at 864-242-3626 or visit their website at www.GreenvilleHumane.com

For the past 23 years, I have used the same deoderant.  I never had a problem with it until these past couple of years.  Maybe b/c my body is changing more now that I am in my mid 30’s, but it just didn’t keep me dry.  It seems like I sweat more now than I ever did!  I’m telling you, I get a little nervous, and I start sweating!  When I was out in Chicago in July, I was meeting some people I work with for the first time and I literally felt the sweat dripping down my armpits and back.  Just terrible, terrible.  And then I start thinking, do I smell too?  If my deoderant can’t keep me from swimming in my own sweat, is it really keeping me from smellin’?  (Perhaps this isn’t the best topic…)

Any-who, I have switched deoderants.  If you are like me and you sweat terribly, then try Dove Clinical Strength deoderant.  I have been using it for two weeks now and it is amazing.  It truly keeps me dry.  I love it!  And it smells good too!   Thank you so much Dove.

My Mom sent me these pictures.  They made me chuckle so I wanted to pass them along.  Hey, it just might give you and idea! :)

Hope you had a great weekend despite the rain on Saturday…..I had a surprise happy birthday party for one of my relatives and I must say that she was so thrilled !  That reminds me of something I read about how to really make someone’s day…..here goes…people always love it when you remember their birthday, share a happy memory or buy a small gift to show you’re thinking about them.  How about these cool fall temperatures in the morning….so nice after such a hot summer…take care…Lee

Being a veteran myself, I would like to tell you about a  special event taking place on September 29th as the Palmetto Bank on Highway 9 in Boiling Springs salutes all veterans who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces.  The ceremony begins at 10am and you can get a schedule of events at www.palmettobank.com .  Let me personally thank the Palmetto Bank for such a wonderful gesture.  Lee

Boy, when you’re having fun, how  quickly time slips away.  That was the case this past weekend when I enjoyed Euphoria in downtown Greenville.  Let me take a moment to compliment all of the folks involved with this festival including South Carolina Bank and Trust who sponsored the Sunday Jazz Brunch featuring some very talented jazz artist like Mark Rapp and Don Braden…it may have been raining but we had a huge tent and lots of folks came by to enjoy the food and music….looking forward to next year.  Hope your weekend was a good one too….Lee

I wanted to echo remarks made recently in a local newspaper by Steve Sinicropi, the director of the S.C. Broadcasters Association.  Some record labels, based overseas, will be asking Congress to impose millions in new fees on local radio stations, to help what they call struggling artists.  Radio stations already pay substantial royalty fees just to play songs.   If this is allowed to happen , it would force radio stations to cut jobs and reduce fund raising and puble service initiatives.  Please show your support for the Local Radio Freedom Act being introduced in Congress which would keep radio free from the proposed tax.   For more information, go to Save  your radio dot org.  Thanks much..Lee

Good morning, well another weekend has come and gone in a mighty big hurry..hope you had a good one….I had a really good time at Spartanburg Tailgate on Saturday, the first of what I hope will be an annual event.  My favorite part was the Parade of Dogs and I’m so glad that I was not a judge..because they were all just so good…my thanks to all the folks who put it all together and for the dog lovers that came out to enjoy the show.  Don’t forget that Magic is not only playing 20 songs in a row at 8am but it will continue each day while you’re working at different times of the day.  Talk with you again soon..Lee

If you were among the well wishers at GSP recently to welcome back about a hundred World War II veterans from their daylong trip to Washington to see the national  World War II  Memorial and other sites,  let me say a big thank you for being there to honor these great citizens who have served our country.  If all things work out, there’ll be another Honor Flight for veterans  coming up again soon.  Tim Morgan has worked so hard in putting all of this together and if you’d like to get more information, just call him at 864-898-5500…have a good weekend….Lee
