Once in a while , I get on my soapbox and today is one ….I saw some shocking pictures on the 11 o’clock news last night about a fight  that took place at the conclusion of a basketball game between Southside High and Abbeville High.  After the game ended, some punches were thrown and then fans began coming out of the stands  and getting in on the mayhem.   There were no injuries but I am amazed that deputies did not make any arrests.   Everyone involved with such an incident should have been taken to jail including players.  I’m sure you have noticed how civility is on the decline in this country and we need to make sure that incidents such as this one last night does not go without punishment. Officials at both schools have alot of mending to do and the state High School League should take immediate action to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.     Lee

I had the priviledge of working with one of the true pros in the broadcast business.   Bo  Griffin was the morning show host here on Magic back in 2005.  She was so witty and funny and loved her listeners.  She contributed so much to Entercom while she was here.  Bo died this past Tuesday after a brief illness.  In addition to owning her own dress shop in Greenville for many years , she continued her broadcast interests after leaving Magic and was recently planning a trip to Los Angeles to do reports on the show Extra.  My sympathy to her family and friends.  She’ll really be missed and I’ll always have fond memories 0f  our time together here on Magic 98.9..Lee

Hope you enjoy th

An older gentleman had an appointment to see the urologist who shared offices with several other doctors.  The waiting room was filled with patients.   As he approached the receptionist’s desk, he noticed that the receptionist was a large unfriendly woman who looked like a Sumo wrestler.   He gave her his name.
In a very loud voice, the receptionist said, “YES, I HAVE YOUR NAME HERE;   YOU WANT TO SEE THE DOCTOR ABOUT IMPOTENCE, RIGHT?”

All the patients in the waiting room snapped their heads around to look at the very embarrassed man.   He recovered quickly, and in an equally loud voice replied,   ’NO, I’VE COME TO INQUIRE ABOUT A SEX CHANGE OPERATION,    BUT I DON’T WANT THE SAME DOCTOR THAT DID YOURS.’

The room erupted in applause!

DON’T MESS WITH OLD FOLKS.

It was indeed a super weekend with the big game on Sunday night to cap things off….I had blogged last week about a good Clemson law that would ban text messaging and e-mail while driving and now I see the editorial in the Greenville News endorsing such a ban.  I applaud the News  for taking the same stance on the issue.  The article talks about one study that found drivers talking on cell phones were  30 percent more likely to crash and the risk only increases if drivers try and text or send and receive e-mail.  There is no excuse for any of that type of behavior while driving a car and no message is so important that it can’t wait until you pull over and stop or get to your destination…..I feel so much better getting that off my chest….Lee

I want to personally thank the city of Clemson for taking steps making it illegal for people to us a cell phone to e-mail or text message while driving.  Violaters would be hit with a fine of $100 plus court fees but would not impact license points or insurance premiums.  Opponents of the ban said the law would interfere with individual rights.  A final vote for passage is expected in about 2 weeks.  It should  make you nervous too when a driver comes up behind you on a cell phone because that driver’s full attention in not on driving safely.  The whole state of South Carolina should have the same law that Clemson is about to adopt.
