Once in a while , I get on my soapbox and today is one ….I saw some shocking pictures on the 11 o’clock news last night about a fight  that took place at the conclusion of a basketball game between Southside High and Abbeville High.  After the game ended, some punches were thrown and then fans began coming out of the stands  and getting in on the mayhem.   There were no injuries but I am amazed that deputies did not make any arrests.   Everyone involved with such an incident should have been taken to jail including players.  I’m sure you have noticed how civility is on the decline in this country and we need to make sure that incidents such as this one last night does not go without punishment. Officials at both schools have alot of mending to do and the state High School League should take immediate action to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.     Lee

Hello there.  It’s been a while since I’ve hopped on the ole blog here.  I’m apologize.  I was not feeling my best last week.  Monday started with sneezing and such and by last Thursday, I was just down and out and could barely move.  Thank goodness for Thera Flu and Jack Pyles who filled in for me that day.  Boy oh boy, did I need the rest.  I stayed in bed all day, didn’t get up till about 4:30-5:00pm.  That really is the best thing, rest.

Last night I went out dinner and then saw Shutter Island with Leonardo Dicaprio (number 1 at the Box Office this past weekend.)  Fantastic movie.  Leonardo is one of the THE BEST actors in my opinion.  I know a bunch of guys really had a distaste for him when Titanic came out, but with every film, he gets better and better.  So convincing on the big screen.  Honestly.  I say go see Shutter Island.  It is rated R and there is some language, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat, it’s a thriller.  Not so much scare you to death, depending on what you view as scary.  The Ring is a scary movie for me.  I couldn’t sleep after watching that movie.  My husband John thought Shutter Island was scary.  The difference is, Shutter Island happens in real life.  The Ring does not.  Got it?

One more thing.  (So much to catch up on) I went over to the Greenville Humane Society yesterday to buy some supplies.  Best place for supplies.  And when I went in, I saw pins and magnets sitting on the counter top!  Here is one of the pins I bought.

P1050589    P1050595

I bought another pin and a magnet for the fridge.  WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THESE PINS AND MAGNETS, one of the ladies who works at GHS, her 5 year old daughter makes them!  The money goes to benefit the GHS!  I couldn’t resist.  Spectacular.  I’m gonna buy some more and give them as gifts.  They are just too cute and only $3.

And, I’m a numbnuts.  I didn’t record correctly with my Flip Camera outside the Greenville Humane Society yesterday, but I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to Alexa on her adoption!  I met Alexa and her Mom in front of GHS yesterday just after they adopted Scoobie.  (Mom works at Upstate Plastic Surgery)  I asked Alexa why she decided to adopt Scoobie and she said “because he’s big and he looked lonely.”  Well, Alexa, you have just adopted one of your greatest friends with many a fun day ahead.  Thank you for loving and taking care of Scoobie!

I had the priviledge of working with one of the true pros in the broadcast business.   Bo  Griffin was the morning show host here on Magic back in 2005.  She was so witty and funny and loved her listeners.  She contributed so much to Entercom while she was here.  Bo died this past Tuesday after a brief illness.  In addition to owning her own dress shop in Greenville for many years , she continued her broadcast interests after leaving Magic and was recently planning a trip to Los Angeles to do reports on the show Extra.  My sympathy to her family and friends.  She’ll really be missed and I’ll always have fond memories 0f  our time together here on Magic 98.9..Lee
