What to do on Spring break… why not head over to the Cowpens National Battlefield!  It’s not that far of a drive… and what a wonderful piece of history right here in South Carolina!  Cowpens is part of the Revolutionary War!  Amazing stuff.  The Battle between the Brits and Americans took about 20 minutes… and what an important Battle it was!

My Father (Bob), Stefanie (sister) and Landon (bro-in-law) visited the Cowpens National Battlefield… and we had a blast.  CLICK HERE  too watch just a few of things that went on that day….

As you know, Monnie Whiteson has decided to leave Magic to pursue other interests that mean a great deal to her.  I do know that she is writing a book about becoming a mid life orphan and she also wants to do a television show somewhere down the line.   It was a wonderful experience working with such a talented lady who became a good friend too.  We’ll all miss Monnie….so in the meantime Chris will continue in the morning until a replacement is announced and hopefully that won’t be too long…..Lee

I’m telling you, it makes me sick to watch the news.  Ben Rothlesberger and his scandals, abusing women… our Vice President swearing in the President’s ear… and I’m not talking about using a “soft” swear word.  He used the MOTHER of all swear words.  And then kids beating up kids and causing serious damage, if not death.

I was talking to our receptionist Edwina the other day and we just wondered what it would be like if everyone we worked with was honest.  No deception, no “white” lies, no ugly words… We’d all have to change… but then I kinda laughed.  Ha!  Then the work place would be so dull.

I know a week is not a long time but it seemed that way to me as my late winter vacation ended on Sunday and I was back behind the mic on Monday of this week, which I might add, was a really good feeling.  Rarely does a person find a profession that gives them the satisfaction that I have found in radio and especially here on Magic 98.9.  As we get ready for springtime there’ll be lots of fun events here on the station that I know will will love not to mention the warmer weather after a long and cold winter…….thanks for listening……Lee

You all know how much I love the Greenville Humane Society!  That is where John and I got our first dog, Tink 6 years ago!  What a great dog she is!

Well last night the GHS had there annual fundraiser, Sips for Snips at Saffron’s Sidewalk Cafe in downtown Greenville.  Just a fabulous spot and great food!  We had live music with JJ & The Kid (love this band!) and had some WONDERFUL silent auction items, in which I won a couple!  (Pics below)

A very special thanks to our wonderful local supporters of the Greenville Humane Society:  Pilot Freight Services, Ameco, Erwin-Penland, Smith Moore Leatherwood Attorneys at Law, The Peoples National Bank and Thomas Creek Brewery.

All in all, just a fabulous night.  Last year 125 tickets sold… this year 286 tickets!  So good!  Thank you so much for supporting our Greenville Humane Society.

Here is one of the items I won in the silent auction.  I LOVE THIS CAT!!!  Made of wood and from Go Fish.  It got a little heated, there was a definite bidding war going on between another lady and I.  Don’t worry though, she didn’t walk away empty handed, she won a very nice hide-a-way bed for her cat.

Here is another piece I won.  Created by Artist Kim Ronin who is also a very involved volunteer for the Greenville Humane Society:

My beautiful flowers in this pic are from Kim Pittman and Rhonda Lund who work at the GHS.  Those girls are great!  Here is a close up of the painting.

Please, next year, don’t miss out on Sips for Snips to benefit the Spay and Neuter Clinic of the Greenville Humane Society.  It truly is a wonderful time.  And if you every need a spot to host a party, definitely call on Saffron’s Sidewalk Cafe!  864-241-0401.

Since the weather is beginning to look and feel more like spring, I thought this would be a good time to take a few days off and enjoy doing some activities outside of the radio station….so I’ll be back at work on the 15th of March.  Bo will be here to do my show and of course the Totally 80’s Lunch.  I do look forward to visiting with my sister who lives in Atlanta….It’ll be a quick trip but will be really good to see her and some family members.  We are gearing up for the spring time full of fun things to do on Magic so  take care and will talk with you a little later on.
