Its a fact of life that at some time in our life if not our very own, we will know someone who has dementia.  That’s why education acts a protective layer around the brain, helping to slow down the progression of diseases such as Alzheimer’s.  Even though people who spend longer studying are just as likely to get the illness as someone who leaves school at 16, it will not advance as quickly.  This means they will not suffer from symptoms such as memory loss, confusion and mood swings so early on in the disease…so stay active and learn something new everyday…read as much as possible….Lee

How about this….a favorite actress Halle Berry is set to appear on an Oscars-inspired episode of the animated series, The Simpsons.  Halle will play herself in a story where she will present an Academy Award to both Bart Simpson and his dad, Homer.  This special show is scheduled to air early next year.  And Halle is also set to play the lead role in the new movie of the best selling novel, Shoe Addicts Anonymous.  In this one, she’ll play the role of an acrophobic shoe lover.  She’s got enough to keep her busy for a while…I’ve always liked her acting abilities….Lee

It’s true. Kate Gosselin has yet another reality tv show on the way, and this one involved Sarah Palin. Kate’s packing up her brood of children and heading to Alaska for a camping trip where Sarah Palin will guide them through the snowy wilderness. How much is TOO much Kate Gosselin? She’s worn out her welcome on my television.

I have to say, I love my inlaws! Really, I do. I thought that problems with the inlaws were just those funny scenes in movies that made you laugh and realize how lucky you were. Apparently not. Bo says he is not as lucky as I am. Really, inlaws are great, aren’t they? Do you REALLY have problems with your inlaws? Maybe I can get more out of Bo about that soon! :)

And PS: Love you Ray and Susan Morris from Ninety Six, SC (I am pretty lucky!)

Lauren and I were discussing the results of the “Great Male Survey” about men and dating, and we learned the obvious. Most of us guys are shallow. Over 100,000 guys were surveyed across the US, UK, Canada and Australia. We didn’t have time to give you all of the results on the air, so here’s the complete list of findings from the survey:

1.)  31% of men said the most important trait when it comes to deciding whether a woman is relationship material is a sense of loyalty.  25% said a sense of humor, 24% said a sense of caring or nurturing, and only 20% said intelligence.

2.)  Is it important for a girlfriend to have wife potential? 48% said somewhat but they wouldn’t break up with her if they realized she didn’t have wife potential.  30% of guys said he wouldn’t pursue a woman who WASN’T a potential wife, and 22% said not at all.

3.)  67% of men believe in the institution of marriage, and they’re all about it.  But 18% said that while they believed in it, it wasn’t for them.  And 15% said they DIDN’T believe in it.

4.)  When asked how likely they’d be to cheat if there was NO chance of their girlfriend or wife finding out: 38% said “not at all,” and that while they might be TEMPTED, it violates their morals.  Another 38% said “not very likely,” because they respected their partner.

–Another 17% said “somewhat likely,” but that they’d feel guilty.  5% said “very likely,” because, quote, “she can’t be hurt if she doesn’t know about it.”  And 2% said they ALREADY cheat on their partner.

5.)  And when asked if they’d dump a girlfriend if she became, quote, “fat” . . . 46% said yes.  But 54% said NO

There is a project underway that is special to me and I wanted you to be a part of it too…..the organization Cell Phones for Soldiers is collecting cash donations and old cell phones.  The phones are re-cycled for cash and the proceeds are used to buy pre-paid calling cards for our soldiers serving in the Middle East.  The goal is to provide every U.S. soldier with a way to call home for free.  If you’d like to help, just log onto www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com …thanks much…Lee

Paul the Octopus has become quite an international sensation….you see Paul had a perfect 8 for 8 record in picking the winner of the recent World Cup Soccer games but is calling it quits.  Paul will get back to his former job, namely making children laugh at the Sea Life Aquarium in Germany.  This was such a great human intererst story that I enjoyed seeing and reading about…oh…Paul was given a golden cup, similar to the official World Cup trophy , garneshed with three yummy mussels for him to eat…so cool….Lee

My husband and I celebrated his birthday this past Sunday, 7/11.  Before over indulging at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse (YUM, the best creamed spinach I have ever had in my life!) we stopped by my sister’s place beacuse she had a little present for him.  Along with his favorite candy (Skittles, in which I have already eaten half the bag) she gave him this card….

She and her husband have two Dachshunds and my husband plays video games.  Too cute!

I have been following the Mel Gibson saga and I am surprised to see such a dark side of the popular movie star…His profanity laced tirade directed at his ex girlfriend has hit the web.  Also execs at William Morris Endeavor Entertainmnet have reportedly dropped Mel just days after the death of his longtime agent, Ed Limato.  Police are investigating Mel for domestic assault so look for some very unpleasant times ahead for the veteran star….Lee
