Every year I am still amazed at the new words that are invented and  added to the dictionary…well, the latest edition of the New Oxford American Dictionary is out, and it’s got more than 2,000 new words and phrases, including vuvuzela, microblogging, staycation and turducken which by the way is a chicken stuffed inside a duck stuffed inside a turkey…go figure.  Which of these words do you think was used the most this year?….Lee

After reading many blogs from entertainers about the internet….I tend to agree with them.  The lastest is from Stevie Nicks who is convinced that the internet will prove to be the end of rock and roll.  She says the internet has destroyed rock and that children no longer develop social graces.  They don’t hang out anymore.  What about the kids trying to make it in the music business?  If you’re not an established band, if you don’t have a hit single, they’re going to drop you. I think Stevie is right on about what’s happening.  She just wrapped up her most recent tour with Fleetwood Mac back in December and says her new solo album is her main priority for 2011. You rock Stevie…..Lee

The  headline read Men More Likely to be Caught Cheating…so I had to read this one…to get right to the point…men are twice as likely as women to get caught having an affair.  Women are more skilled in the arts of hiding their affairs particularly when it comes to handling technology such as e-mails, texts and social networking sites.  The difference is astonishing…half of men and only 21 percent of women were found out via the internet.  Is it ok to check your partner’s e-mail or phone?   Lee

I still can’t  get over how much money some of these news makers earn on the job…it blows my mind.  Just to give you an example, Matt Laurer of Today makes 16 million…his co-host Meridith Vieira earns 11 million….Brian Williams pulls down 12 and half million and Katie Couric of CBS News makes 15 million and she is last in the ratings..go figure that..Lee

Let’s see if we can make some sense of what’s going on with Charlie Sheen these days…..He claims that his Christmas Day dispute with wife Brooke Mueller started  because Brooke was jealous of his relationship with his daughter.  The police report also revealed another physical altercation between Charlie  and Brooke that allegedly took place two months before the Christmas Day incident.  Meanwhile, Charlie already appears to be looking for female companionship amid reports that divorce is imminent for him and Brooke.  So although Charlie was sentenced to 30 days in a rehabilitation center after copping a plea deal in the assault case, he may not serve any of it since he’s already spent 93 days this year at a treatment center.  So what’s your take on Charlie Sheen?   Lee

Almost anyone over age 40 who is looking for a job might be tempted to shave a few years off to seem younger…but thats not a good idea because if you get the job you want, the company will check your background after you start work and inaccuracies on your resume are not taken lightly.  Here’s a tip on a better resume strategy…Create a short section called “Early Experience” or Additional Experience” with just a sentence or two outlining what you did in your first jobs.  That takes care of the age issue without drawing attention to it.  In short, make sure the company can see your experience makes you the best candidate for the job…good luck…Lee

I want to blog today about trying to eat more healthy…like giving up too much salt that can cause problems.  Americans, both men and women, are eating over 50 percent more salt than they did in the early 1970’s mainly because there is plenty of salt hiding in everyday foods where you may not expect it.  Here are a few tips….cut back on packaged and processed food, read package ingredients and look for labels when you shop or eat out.  We need salt to survive but too much can cause high blood pressure, which can lead to heart disease , stroke and kidney disease….use a little moderation….Lee
